This started today, when i start to accelerate i heard only what can be described as a clacking sound, it does it only once at the start of acceleration and does it in any gear when you put your foot down, the sound seems to come from the far front middle of dashboard!! Problem 2: White smoke from exhause under acceleration, not alot but enough to leave a nice mist floating around. Any ideas?Vagcom showing nothing wrong lol. Im going to cry :( Quote

seatkid Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 problem 1 check the roll restrictor bar under the gearbox to the subframe. Its common for the high tension bolt to shear. Lots of posts and pictures on the forum. Problem 2 - possibly timing is out - your recent cambelt change incorreclty done and thats why the white smoke and sluggish performance. Quote

BUT in the cold light of day 95% of the problems were down to the dick head who used to own the beast, he run her into the ground!! :( ! everything needed doing as each day something else went wrong ! if you are in the AA they offer a parts and labour warranty (£80 a year for mine) this covers you for 5 visits to the garage up to £500 each visit ! all you pay is £35 excess so far I have had a starter motor (£250 and new HD battery £120 fixed on this scheme) worth a thought. I am sure once the old girl gets a good service you will start feeling better. This week I have done nearly 700 miles in my Galaxy and she is running ok Edited September 30, 2011 by Amarok Quote
